℣. We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee.
℟. Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

It was almost the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the veil of the Temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom, and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened…And Jesus cried out with a loud voice:

Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabacthani? O My God, My God, look upon Me, why hast Thou forsaken Me? Why are the cries of My anguish so far from helping Me? I cry by day, and Thou dost not answer, I cry in the night-time and no relief comes to Me…

Have mercy on Me, O Lord. My eyes are troubled in Thy wrath, My soul and My bowels. My strength is giving way under misery, and My whole body is shaken. I am forgotten like one that is dead, I am cast aside like a broken vessel.

It is consummated. Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit. And Jesus, bowing His head, gave up the ghost.

Pater noster, qui es in cœlis, sanctificétur nomen tuum. Advéniat regnum tuum. Fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cœlo et in terra. * Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie. Et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris. Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem: sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. * Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Ave María, grátia plena, Dóminus tecum; benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus fructus ventris tui, Jesus. * Sancta María, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatóribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. * Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sancto. * Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. * As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

℣. Lord Jesus crucified,
℟. Have mercy on us.

Fac me tecum pie flere,
Crucifíxo condolére,
donec ego víxero.

Grant that I may devoutly weep with thee,
and suffer with the Crucified
as long as I shall live.
