℣. We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee.
℟. Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Then Pilate delivered Him to be crucified. And they took Jesus and led Him forth. And bearing His own cross, He went forth to the place which is called Calvary.

My people, what have I done to thee, or in what have I grieved thee? I was thy guide through the desert for forty years, and fed thee with manna and brought thee into an excellent land, and thou hast prepared a cross for thy Savior?

He hath borne our infirmities and carried our sorrows: and we have thought Him as it were a leper and as one struck by God and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions: He was bruised for our sins, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him. All we like sheep have gone astray, every one hath turned aside into his own way: and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Pater noster, qui es in cœlis, sanctificétur nomen tuum. Advéniat regnum tuum. Fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cœlo et in terra. * Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie. Et dimítte nobis débita nostra, sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris. Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem: sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. * Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Ave María, grátia plena, Dóminus tecum; benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus fructus ventris tui, Jesus. * Sancta María, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatóribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. * Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sancto. * Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. * As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

℣. Lord Jesus crucified,
℟. Have mercy on us.

O quam tristis et afflícta
fuit illa benedícta
Mater Unigéniti!

O how sad and how afflicted
was that Blessed Mother
of the Only-Begotten!

Jn. 19:16-17 / Improperia of Good Friday / Is. 53:4-6.
